Comparing MS Ducts

Air Conditioning ducts are very important for an HVAC system. They help in optimizing the airflow, controlling the temperature and air quality and thereby enhancing the health quotient of the HVAC unit. They are meant to release hot and cool air and circulate it on the premises.

The ducts must be made of good quality raw material (the use of which is dependant on the placement and design of the HVAC units), are installed properly and are tested & maintained regularly. Ducts can be made with Galvanized Iron, Stainless Steel, Mild Steel, Aluminum, Polyurethane and phenolic insulation panels, fibreglass and PVC.

KAD Air Conditioning is one of the recognized AC ducts manufacturers in Dubai. It offers AC ducts in different materials as below:

  • Mild Steel (MS) Ducts

Mild Steel is a popular material for air conditioning ducts. They are fabricated from hot rolled or cold rolled black steel sheets. These sheets contain 0.16%-0.29% carbon. They are leak-proof and also fire-resistant. Both these qualities make the MS Steel Ducts very good for Kitchen Exhausts.

Kitchen exhausts must be equipped with these properties due to extensive exposure to gas and flames. If they are given a fire-rated coating or with multiple layers of red oxide with rock wool insulation that conforms to NFPA 96 standards, the functioning is enhanced.

The MS ducts as rectangular lined & unlined, round, spiral and straight ducts. They can be made in different thicknesses helping companies customize them to the client’s requirements.

They can be used in food processing plants, chemical plants, pharmaceutical battery manufacturing facilities, labs etc. in addition to finding optimum use in kitchen exhausts.

Generally, MS Ducts require less maintenance, they are resistant to corrosion and are non-combustible.

  • Galvanized Iron (GI) ducts

They are made with galvanized steel sheets that have lock forming quality. They prevent rusting. Ducts made of GI steel sheets are used as there is saving on the painting cost. They exhibit a high degree of insulation and soundproofing. GI ducts are resistant to corrosion and are flexible. They are also very durable.

  •  Stainless Steel (SS) Ducts.

Stainless Steel ducts are fabricated from SS Sheets of Grade 316 and Grade 304. This spells high quality. The joints of the SS Ducts are fully welded, longitudinal and transverse. They can be round or rectangular. They can be used in a highly corrosive environment. They are manufactured as per NFPA, BS and ASHRE standards.

  • Aluminum (AL) Ducts

Aluminum ducts can be made round or rectangular. They are made with aluminum sheets AA1100 or an equal grade of sheets with Hemmed S and Drive C Cleats or FL flanged type transverse joints. They can also be made as plain ducts that have a reflector finish. They find use in swimming pools and industrial firms etc.

Considering all points, MS ducts proves to be durable and used in many applications.

All kinds of ducts are checked very minutely for product quality and subsequent usage. KAD Air Conditioning assures of its product quality and delivers them as per client’s requirements.
